Trish Hoffman moved to Albuquerque in 1994 and began her career with the Albuquerque Police Department. She has been with APD for the past 20 years and has worked all over the city as a patrol officer. She is a training officer, a crisis intervention officer, a defensive tactics instructor, a ground control instructor, and has taught at the APD training academy for the past 15 years. In 2000 Trish started a program "Women Against Crime" reaching out to women in the community and teaching them safety and awareness, along with numerous different classes on how to protect themselves and how not to be a victim. Her classes range from 9 weeks to one hour presentations all over the city. There are waiting lists to get into Trish's classes. She speaks to numerous professional organizations, the girl scouts, youth groups, senior centers, Honeywell, Intel, women's groups of all types and even the Masonic Lodge, just to name a few. Trish was chosen as a part of the Chief's staff in August 2003 to be the Public Information Officer (PIO) which handles all media inquiries for the police department. She was promoted to Sergeant in November 2001 and worked in Internal Affairs. April 2010 Sergeant Hoffman went to patrol and worked the Northwest Area Command. She went back to being the face of APD in October 2011 until December 2012. She has worked patrol since 2012 in the NW, and most recently in the Southeast Area Command. September 2014 Trish took over the Financial Crimes Division which investigates all fraud, forgery, embezzlements, and extortion felony cases. She also handles the Criminal Nuisance Abatement Team, metal and pawn investigations, and Crimestoppers. She will be promoted to Lieutenant in 2016. The 2004 Recipient of the Governors Award, Woman of the Year, Trish is also the youngest woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Governors Award. In March 2005 she was recognized for the "Women Changing America" award through Congresswoman Heather Wilson's office. She has been recognized throughout the community and State for her work involving women's safety; last count more than 5,000 women have been empowered! Trish Hoffman has her Masters Degree in Business, specializing in Management and Leadership. In her spare time which is few and far between, she enjoys hanging out with family, friends, and her dog Cali. She loves the Green Bay Packers, fly fishing, shopping, and traveling. |
